Atrium Health Levine Children’s
Hospital
The Hemby Pediatric Trauma Institute at Carolinas Medical Center received verification by the ACS as a Level II pediatric trauma center in 2013 and Level I Pediatric designation in 2017 with re-designation received in 2019 and 2023. Approximately 1300 injured patients are seen at our center every year, with approximately 850 of those patients being admitted. Our patients are cared for at Atrium Health Levine Children’s, which is a 247 bed pediatric hospital located on the campus of Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. The Hemby Pediatric Trauma Institute has a team of pediatric and surgical specialists skilled in the proper management of injured children. Within CMC and LCH, physicians, nurses, the emergency department, surgical suites, and pediatric intensive care unit are always on alert and ready to receive pediatric trauma patients. There is a specialized, interdisciplinary pediatric trauma response team which is available 24/7. At our institute in-depth research, education, and injury prevention programs are an integral part of our services. Trauma rehabilitation and acute pediatric rehabilitation services are also available. The vision of the Hemby Pediatric Trauma Institute is to provide high quality, safe patient care by delivering state-of-the-art medical practice driven by performance improvement process and facilitated by data analysis and peer review at all levels of care delivery.
